Story Time

One of my favorite scenes of this movie has to be when William, although first rejected by Sandra, continues to fight for her, and in the end, gets beat up by her then fiance, Don Price. Sandra then and there ends the engagment, and falls into William's arms. It really proved that not only would he continue to prove his love to her in abstract ways, but he will also let himself go through any amount of pain to be with her. To show her how much he cares.
I think the lesson of this story is no matter how outlandish your dreams may be, or how dangerous it may seem to some, if it's what you need to do to complete your life than chase it. We don't get very long on this Earth, and we need to take every moment and treat it preciously. I think the moral of the 'Big Fish' is life. The more you try, the more you experience, the more wisdom you gain along the way of trying to capture the beast, is the journey itself. You'll never catch it, but you will learn from it and chase after it. The Big Fish truly leaves a lot of lessons for a person to learn. While some are pretty upfront, such as chasing your dreams and doing bold actions, it also teaches you that life doesn't have to be easy to be fun. You're going to reach hardships, and things you don't like. But what you choose to do in said situation teaches you and helps you grow as the person you are. Big Fish truly was well written, and well made into a movie. It is something I could watch again and again. With that, it helps me understand the characters more. Everyone has their own dreams they're chasing, and nothing will get in their way. I know that my character will have to vibe off the confidence and happiness that a journey like that would bring.

Singing Time

Singing Time

The Musical Big Fish has a great range of music that is fun to listen too, but also leaves a lasting impression on the listener. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to every piece, and I would definitely like to listen to them again.
My favorite track is 'Time Stops.' I imagine it starting on a bit of a darkened stage with the main leads on his own, as the song begins with him describing how he realizes his world is much bigger than he first thought, and his mind is opened up to fantasies and other realities. I think as the female lead begins to sing, colour begins to seep onto stage, and the two are slowly brought out of the darkness around them, almost as if clouds are being cleared, and they realize their love for each other. At the end, the two are reunited together without obstacles, and light fills the stage, I really feel like this song has quite the impact, and the vocals are amazing. It fills well into the Musical because it revolves around their main character, and it plays on the romantic theme of the story being told.
My least favorite song is Daffodils. While I liked all of the songs of this Musical, this one seemed to be my least favorite, although as well as my most liked song, it plays on the romantic theme. I feel like the song is a bit slow and drags on, making the listener feel as if it might not end. While it does have high points and lovely quality, I feel like it could have been done better. I think to keep the audience engaged and interested in the song, there would need to be brighter colors and more of movement from the cast. While listening to this song I could appreciate it, but people who aren't necessarily involved in music or really care for it, wouldn't be able to notice the little quirks of the song that makes it special. I think the cast will have to display these quirks on stage, for everyone to see and to admire.
